Stuck in a bad mood for almost no reason? How many times have you tried to fix your bad mood? Are you feeling down because what you try doesn’t work?
That's okay!
It's normal--to be worried and frustrated about disturbing present time and uncertain future. After all, we are human.
I know life can sometimes suck.
Quite often, you experience a bad or low mood that disrupts your daily life, work and relationships lasting longer. Especially, when we all need a safe place while dealing with the uncertain times in this global pandemic where we want to give ourselves a break.
But I do have some better suggestions with you all to calm your beastly mood fast!
Mood is the way that you are kind of feeling the negative energy into your body, a particular mood in a day and you don't like that mood.
It may be because you think everything is going wrong for you. You are feeling grumpy, maybe a bit angry, frustrated, depressed. But you want to not be in that mood and want to be able to shift it.
Here are some hidden reasons for getting stuck in a bad mood like:
Sleep Deprivation
Hormonal changes
Skipping meals
Working too much
Bipolar disorder
Fluctuation in moods
Social media addiction
Seasonal allergies
Chronic illness or pain
Certain medications
Honestly speaking, I get even more frustrated than anyone when I get in a bad mood. Because I'm someone who always spends so much of my time trying to feel good and calm.
Someone who is super optimistic, focused and determined on a positive outlook, and just being myself.
But sometimes I feel so low, angry, frustrated and sad especially when I'm like “What’s life all about?."
I stressed out and feel like there's no reason to live at all because you just have nothing productive to do in your life.
But hey, hear me out!
There are dozens of different ways to cheer yourself up instead of getting down.
Here I'm going to give you some proactive tips which I use for overcoming any bad mood. And I'm sure by following these tips, you will be able to improve your bad mood in no time.
So, without further ado, let's drag yourself into a positive frame of mind and turn a bad mood around—if one doesn’t work, another one will definitely!

1. Understand How Your Mind Works
The way you are thinking and feeling has a direct impact on your physiology and body. If you're having stressful thoughts and feelings, your body reacts and you feel different.
Your emotions, behavior and thinking are habitual—not a problem. These are intricately connected to each other, and can’t do much to change your default program.
That’s how you’re designed! That's the way your body and mind work! They go together with your thoughts and feelings in the same way you feel.
But you can be the master of your mind by breaking these toxic patterns. Understand how your body and mind operate together, experience your emotions and enjoy it but not get locked up in them.
So that you can instruct yourself in a way that actually works for you.
2. Move Your Body
The next thing you must do is move your body. Physical exercise is so important as it allows you to blow up steam to get that energy out and just really have a feeling of release.
Moreover, exercises release endorphins which is beneficial for our body. So never underestimate the power of a good workout or just moving out your body.
Going outside the house can make you feel the world around you better.
Go jogging for ten minutes. Go on a cycle or bike ride or just fast walk around your neighborhood. Do push-ups or just punch a pillow.
If you do all these activities, that will surely benefit you somehow!
3. Spend Some Time In Nature

How much time do you even spend in nature?
It is scientifically proven that spending time in nature improves health, relieves stress, reduces frustration, improves your mood, and boosts feelings of happiness and wellbeing.
A dose of awe-inspiring awesomeness in nature reminds you just how incredible the world is.
Witness the incredible beauty in nature—towering mountains, roaring waterfalls, a sky full of uncountable stars, and having a green time—enough for us to realize that we’re just a tiny part of an incredible universe.
What’s more powerful than this?
4. Boost Your Mood
In need of a mood booster?
If you’re really in a bad mood, what you need to do in this case is to create your mood—by doing peaceful activities to deal with a bad mood you’re facing.
Stay organized. Turn off the notifications, keep the cellphone aside, clear your workspace, make your own bed, and clean your surroundings—in order to create big habits.
How about reaching out for some yummy chocolates or grabbing a delicious ice cream?
Chocolates make everyone happy. Also, it reduces tension and can have a significant influence on mood.
On the other side Ice-cream—Well, nothing like a frozen treat to help you cool down! Once you start licking it, there's no quitting!
Want even more?
You can go shopping to benefit your brain. Or watch some feel-good movies or tv shows or comedy to instantly boost your mood from a stressful time or just if you're in need of a good giggle.
Also, put your feelings by getting involved in some artwork like painting, drawing, sculpturing, or other forms of art.
Hmm, great idea!
So if you are feeling low, then having all these mood-boosting things can be no bad thing at all. Isn't it?

Chanting and meditation works really well to calm yourself before you interact with the outer world.
Chanting stops your racing thoughts and solidifies your inner peace. And meditation clears all the drama, confusion, and toxic emotions from the mind.
There are plenty of videos available on YouTube to practice mindfulness. I also do this.
If you for instance — just slow down, keep your eyes closed, feel your breath coming in and out of your nostrils, and be right where you are — at the present moment.
Meditation increases positive emotions, decreases the feeling of loneliness, gives you pure energy, and makes you well-balanced .
Get yourself as clear as possible, this will boost your resilience and help you get ready for a perfect and stress-free day.
6. Practice Gratitude

Always be grateful for what you have!
Practicing gratitude is an amazing tool to do so.
Take time everyday to focus on reminding yourself that you’re lucky for things that are comforting to you.
Get your thoughts on paper by starting journaling.
Keep a diary or notepad where you can write down your concerns. This will help you organize and make things more manageable.
Write down a few things you’re grateful for, some acts of kindness someone has done for you, or recent acts of love you have experienced lately.
If possible, just guilt yourself into feeling better!
Remember that there is always someone having a harder time than you.
7. Volume Up the Music

One of the best ways of setting the tone for your day is to listen to one of your favorite tracks.
If you ever feel yourself being drawn into a bad mood, tune in to music.
Put on your headphones—find something and create a playlist of songs that just make you happy. Also sing along to them.
You can choose either classical, romantic or pop music.
Music is one such thing that helps you concentrate, makes connections with a happy time in your life and helps draw you out of your bad mood.
8. Connect With Positive People

The flipside of avoiding negative people is to be connected with positive ones.
If there are some people out there who have you cracking up with their sense of humor, even better.
So why not go one step further by looking them up and giving yourself a boost?
Just make the first move to surround yourself with them without waiting for them to do.
It will definitely have a positive effect on your mood!
9. Get Yourself A Pet

Owning a pet plays a wonderful role in reducing your stress levels.
The benefits of having a pet are just endless.
They understand that companionship and really help in making beautiful bonds with humans.
Research has found that pets are good for health and give you unconditional love.
They offer emotional support, help you feel better and will further enhance your good mood.
Additionally, pets help to make you laugh, feel good and calm, by doing some pretty funny things at times.
If you get yourself a dog or cat, then you will have to walk it daily. This means you will get some exercise, fresh air, and an opportunity to connect with nature— that's probably not a bad thing!
10. Choose To Think Happy Thoughts

Listen, one can only be as happy as they allow themselves to be!
If you put your happiness in the hands of others, you’ll never be in control of it yourself.
It's really up to you — choose to think of happy thoughts and you will be happy or choose to think unhappy thoughts and you will be unhappy.
It's as simple as that!
So why not get rid yourself of bad thoughts and replace them with good ones?
If you need a prompt, you can take yourself back to a time when you were happy. How about digging out some old photographs of great times that you’ve had?
Trust me this will instantly fill you with happy thoughts!
11. Stop Worrying
You know what—Worrying doesn’t actually help you in any way at all. This is one of the major causes of unhappiness.
The thoughts that come to your mind are meaningless, often colored by your past stories.
It's just an old habit, not the truth.
Learn to deal with it. Try it, and hopefully that will end all your worries.
In case you can’t deal with it at that moment in time, then think of some better way to do it.
Have an optimistic outlook rather than worrying too much about a problem!
Remember you can only be in the present, so stop expecting to envision the future.
No matter how hard you try, you can’t predict what’s going to happen in the future.
So there’s no need to be so worried anymore—whatever happens.
12. Get Adequate Sleep

Life is indeed stressful. Having a bad mood is a normal part of everyone's life.
Lack of sleep renders you more sensitive to negative stimuli, makes your stress even worse, and diminishes mental clarity.
If you’re in a bad mood, you might sleep less and have a lower sleep efficiency.
A sound sleep is essential to tackle all the crankiness more easily.
Make yourself relax and calm before going to bed. Step away from the screen, take a shower, read a book or drink herbal tea before bed—to encourage the onset of sleep. Make a habit to go to bed on time.
Follow these tips on a daily routine--to make sure you get the proper amount of rest.
Remember, you can better cope with a bad mood when you are well-rested.
Thus, sleep is truly a stress reducer.
Avoid worrisome thoughts before bed so that it doesn't disrupt your sleep.
Keep your bedtime a worry-free zone!
The Bottom Line
Keep in mind that bad moods are an inevitable part of our life, however, it can pass.
Ideally, a quick boost is definitely needed to feel better and take a few mindful steps towards it.
Though human beings are sensitive creatures doesn't mean to let your bad mood ruin your day or even a portion of your day like an irritable and annoying ache.
Try not to avoid it lasting longer. Because it not only affects you but also affects the people around you.
By using some of these tips mentioned above, you will inevitably feel a burden lifted off your shoulders.
Moreover, you will be likely to actively look on the bright side.
In case your negative mood sticks around too long, talk to people you trust. You may talk to your therapist, doctor, counselor or even parents about what you can do to feel better.
Don't keep your feelings inside, as it can make them seem much worse.
